What Your Analytics Tracks Automatically — and What It Misses
Most teams ask what they can track. Julie explains the better question to ask first.

There's a difference between your analytics platform collecting data and your analytics platform answering a question.
Most setups do a lot of the former; not as many do the latter.
Julie from the MeasureU team put together a short video on exactly this. What your platform tracks automatically, what it can do with some configuration, and where you actually need to build something custom.
Watch: What Your Analytics Tracks Automatically — and What It Misses
The ABC framework Julie walks through is a clean way to see where your current setup sits and what it can (and can't) tell you about whether a page is doing its job.
The part worth paying close attention to: most tracking problems start with the wrong first question.
The instinct is to open Google Tag Manager and start adding events. The better move is to ask one specific question first. Julie explains what that question is, and why answering it changes everything you end up building.
There's more in the video than I can fit here, including an example that makes the three layers come together quickly.

P.S. Before you build your next tag, it helps to know what you should be measuring. Our new product, the P.R.I.C.E. Method, is a structured way to work that out. Worth a look if you haven't seen it yet.
