What Happened When Everyone Shared Their Screen

Last Thursday, we ran things a little differently

Normally, when Julie runs a workshop, she teaches for the better part of an hour and takes questions at the end.

This time she taught a bit to start, then had everyone build out tracking on their own sites live on the call.

One after another, members unmuted and put their own site up on screen.

One member owns a pizza shop, and she's moving her online ordering onto her own website this week. She wanted to know how many people click the Margherita, and how many click the banana Nutella calzone and then never order.

It was so much easier to set up this tracking live with the site showing on screen.

That real-time feedback only happens when you get off the mute button, show your screen, and let the hive mind of twenty-plus people on the call tell you what they would track.

To make it easy on everyone, Julie handed out a tagging container with the tracking logic she taught already built. All attendees had to do was swap out a few items to match their own plan and get their tracking live.

Customer Journey Analytics

At MeasureU, we have been teaching a framework called I’s on the Journey for years.

It came out of a problem default tracking couldn't explain.

You see, with default analytics tracking (think GA4), there is no reliable way to track how far people get on your landing page without buying… unless you use the I’s on the Journey framework.

This framework defines five points of micro-conversions (all beginning with the letter I) that need to be tracked to see where customers leave your funnel before buying.

It’s the missing link between “nobody converted” and “let’s make these fixes and people will convert.”

This is an example of CLEAN data in action. Another?

I did two podcasts last week, and both of them asked me the same thing. What's the secret to AI and analytics?

My answer? CLEAN data. Getting the right data into your tools in the first place.

Why? Because AI will screw up your analysis or draw false conclusions if you don't collect data deliberately, and in a way that AI can clearly understand.

That's exactly what we've been focusing on the past few months: helping our community get clean data coming in. Clean inputs increase the quality of the AI outputs coming out exponentially.

We're having a lot of fun preparing for our AI-Ready Data Workshop next week and teaching the fundamentals of clean data as part of the preparation phase.

If clean data intrigues you, we’ve got a lot more tips on the way in this newsletter!

QuickStart - Optimization Strategy 301: Validate Your Data for Action in GA4

Thursday, August 6, 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM EDT

You have built the tracking. Now make sure you can trust what it is telling you. We validate that your engagement signals are reaching Google Analytics 4, troubleshoot data that does not look right, and build simple reports that follow the path from a page view through to meaningful action. Bring any tracking or reports you want to sanity-check.
