Measurement got easier AND harder

The Measurement Game Changed (So Did We)

I've been thinking about how much the measurement world has changed.

And honestly, it's wild.

Jeff and I started our businesses over 10 years ago with this passion for measurement. For making sense of the numbers behind marketing. For helping people actually understand what their data was telling them.

We've been plugging away at this ever since.

But here's what I've noticed...

Measurement is both easier AND harder than it's ever been.

Easier because you have more tools. More platforms. More ways to get insights.

Harder because there's no single dominant platform anymore. No "just use Google Analytics and you're set" answer.

The old way was simple.

  • Learn the technical stuff.

  • Set it up right.

  • Follow the framework.

  • Move the needle.

The new way?

It's about getting results using whatever tools actually work for your situation. Whether that's GA4, Microsoft Clarity, or something we haven't even heard of yet.

It's about adapting faster. Learning as you go. Using AI to fill gaps in experience, knowledge, and team capabilities.

The timeline from "I need to understand this" to "I'm getting actionable data" used to be 90 days.

Now it can be much faster.

Which brings me to why we're changing how this newsletter works.

We're going back to our roots. Back to when everything felt new and exciting. Back to when we'd share experiments, techniques, and what we were seeing in real-time with you on a more frequent basis.
