When Jeff's "Shoot for the Moon" Goals Met Reality (Raw)

Classic marketer move - shoot for the moon and hope gravity doesn't apply...

Just dropped something pretty vulnerable on our YouTube channel.

Jeff came to me with his marketing goals for ProfitSchool and... well, let's just say they were ambitious.

"I want to double our YouTube subscribers to 20,000, triple our newsletter to 10,000 people, and get 50 new members into ProfitSchool Pro."

Classic marketer move - shoot for the moon and hope gravity doesn't apply.

So I did what any good business partner would do. I grabbed a spreadsheet and said "Let's see if math agrees with your optimism."

What happened next was pure measurement marketing in action:

→ We reverse-engineered his Battle of the Bots workshop goal
→ Built out the entire funnel conversion rates in real-time
→ Discovered he'd need 10x more people to hit his stretch sales goal
→ Identified exactly where the plan would break (spoiler: traffic problem)

The beautiful part? We caught this BEFORE launching anything.

No "crossing fingers and hoping." No "let's see what happens." Just cold, hard math showing us exactly what needed to change.

This is measurement marketing vs. marketing measurement:

Marketing measurement = Set goals, do marketing, measure what happened

Measurement marketing = Use data to build your plan BEFORE you execute

One leaves you wondering why you missed your targets. The other shows you exactly how to hit them.

Fair warning - this isn't polished strategy content. It's the messy reality of two business partners working through real numbers on a live call.

But if you've ever set goals that felt more like wishes than plans... this might change how you think about goal-setting forever.

The spreadsheet templates we used are in our free community, by the way. Because everyone should be able to see their results coming before they happen.
