Signal vs. the Noise

Most AI announcements don't actually change how I work.
The "this changes everything" cadence is relentless. A new model, a new feature, a new framework every few weeks. If you tried to act on all of it, you'd never get anything done. So you develop filters. You wait. You see what actually sticks.
In January of last year, I was at a mastermind where marketing legend Perry Belcher was on stage talking about something new called the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
I nodded in recognition, because my team had shared the announcement about Anthropic introducing MCP internally a few months earlier.
In fact, Manisha had already been digging in. We were excited about what the protocol actually was: a standard for how AI tools connect to the data sources and services you actually use. A real standard that multiple platforms had agreed to support, not one company's thing.
Agreed-upon standards are rare. When they happen in an emerging industry, they tend to matter.
Even though I'd known about MCPs for a while, it wasn't until 6 months later that we actually used them for production-quality work. It wasn't until October that we taught our first live MCP workshop.
That gap between "I've read the announcement" and "I have this running, and it's doing real work" is where most people are stuck right now. Not just about MCPs, but about every new AI feature that's released.
That's what this newsletter series is here to work through.
This month, our team will be teaching our members how to connect their Google Analytics and Tag Manager accounts to Claude using MCPs.
Not only that, but even if you've never used Claude before, I'm teaching three brand new QuickStart courses on Claude, starting with a class this Thursday for absolute beginners.
I'll share how to join Thursday's class and much more starting with my next email tomorrow.
If this topic isn't interesting for you, no hard feelings. There's a snooze option at the bottom of this email. It won't unsubscribe you from the newsletter. It'll just pause these emails until July.
But if you've been watching the "When will AI finally be able to read my marketing data?" conversation from a distance, wondering what's real and what's hype, I think we can help with that.

Claude 101 for Marketers
Thursday, June 4, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM EDT
Most marketers are still using Claude like a slightly better ChatGPT — type a prompt, get an output, move on. If that's you, you're missing about 90% of what the tool actually does in 2026. Here's the angle: I run almost everything through Claude Code — the command-line version — but a lot of that is now possible right inside claude.ai, in your browser. I haven't fully mapped that translation myself, so this QuickStart is part 101, part live experiment. We'll poke around the web app together an
