This AI setup blew my mind last week

Last week we got something working that honestly blew my mind. 

I've been doing GTM work for years, and there's always been this tedious dance of clicking through interfaces, setting up the same triggers over and over, and inevitably missing something small that breaks everything.

We finally cracked it.

The Breakthrough

We've got a workflow that takes plain-English requests and turns them into actual GTM web tag/trigger updates and server-side GTM setup.

What used to eat up entire afternoons now happens so much faster.

What Actually Happened

We've been experimenting with what are called "MCPs servers" - that can directly access and analyze your Google Tag Manager containers (web + server).

Not just read them. Actually interact with them.

The results? Mind-blowing.

The Magic in Action

We connected it to a Tag Manager container and asked it to audit the container..

In seconds, it returned:

  • Total tag count (44 tags, 3 paused)

  • GA4 config status and health check

  • Complete inventory of all GA4 events

  • Server container URL verification

  • Detailed recommendations

Then we asked it to create a new server container and a Stape server

60 seconds later? Done. New server-side container, ready with the Stape Server running and linked.

The Setup Reality

Here's what surprised me most - this wasn't some months-long development project.

The hardest part was figuring out that the documentation was written for Mac users while we were on Windows.

Once we rewrote a few lines of code? Everything just worked.

It's way more accessible than the complexity suggests.

Why This Matters Now

This isn't some distant future possibility.

This is happening today. On real client accounts.

What used to take agencies 3-4 hours of manual detective work now happens while you grab coffee.

But here's the kicker - it's not just faster. It's more thorough than most human audits.

The Bigger Picture

We're watching the automation of complex technical work happen in real-time.

Not replacing expertise. Amplifying it.

Our team can now audit 10 containers in the time it used to take to audit one.

And the AI catches things humans miss.
